Pet ultrasounds
Pet ultrasounds are an essential, non-invasive diagnostic tool that allows veterinarians to examine your pet’s internal organs and soft tissues in detail. At Bangalow Vets, we offer advanced in-house pet ultrasound services performed by experienced veterinarians, including Dr Ailsa, who has extensive expertise in ultrasonography. These ultrasound scans help us identify a wide range of health conditions, guide treatment plans, and provide a comprehensive diagnostic work-up without the need for surgery. Pet ultrasounds are highly valuable for detecting issues early, monitoring ongoing health concerns, and ensuring the best care for your pet.

Pet x-rays
When we hear x-rays we generally think bones. Using radiography is not only a fantastic diagnostic tool for finding things like fractures but also arthritis, hip dysplasia, measuring the heart, checking lungs, and discovering internal masses or tumours, to name a few. Our advanced digital radiography facilities allow us to create highly detailed images to better investigate issues for your pet.

In-house Urine Testing
Urine testing can be used to diagnose a range of medical conditions in pets. Some of the most common urine tests we conduct include:
- Kidney function
- Crystals in the bladder
- Infections
- Blood in the urine
- Diabetes management

Heartworm Testing
Heartworm is a serious and potentially fatal condition that can affect both dogs and cats, so it’s important to make sure your pet is protected. We recommend testing for heartworm if your pet’s heartworm prevention has lapsed by more than 6 months. Heartworm is spread via mosquitos, so any pet is at risk, even those who don’t socialise with other animals.

Parvovirus Testing
Parvovirus testing is a critical diagnostic tool, especially for young or unvaccinated dogs showing signs of severe gastrointestinal illness. Parvovirus is a highly contagious and potentially life-threatening disease that we routinely vaccinate against, but unvaccinated pets remain at high risk. There are several methods available for parvovirus testing, and the most suitable approach will depend on your pet’s symptoms and clinical history. If your dog is experiencing vomiting, diarrhoea, or lethargy, particularly if they haven’t been fully vaccinated, we recommend immediate testing to confirm a diagnosis and begin treatment as early as possible. Our veterinarian will guide you through the process and determine the best course of action for your pet’s health.
